World Consumer Rights Day

World Consumer Rights Day

‘World Consumer Rights Day’ also known as awareness day is celebrated throughout the world on March 15 to commemorate the historic address given by the then US President John F Kennedy to the US congress in 1962 in which he outlined the definition of consumer rights for the first time. He was the first world leader to formally define ‘consumer rights’. Since then it became an important opportunity to activate citizen role. The core objective behind celebration of Consumer Rights Day is to showcase the solidarity between the consumer activities globally. The day is to promote the consumers’ basic rights, to demand the conservation and respect for these rights and to oppose exploitation by the market and the social injustice that is poorly valued.

So, we all must be aware of our  basic ‘Consumer Rights’ –

Right to safety,

Right to be informed,

Right to choose &

Right to be heard

so that we do not become the victim of any unfair trade practices & consumer exploitation.
