A weekend filled with positive thoughts, kind people and happy moments
So I celebrated this weekend in a very special way.
It was a normal working day. I came back home late from my office and asked my driver to leave. It was 11 ‘o clock by then when I got completely occupied again in my work. While working I suddenly had a hankering for Coco- Berry. So, without giving a second thought, I picked up my keys and went to the immediate vicinity of my place. I enjoyed ‘coco berry’ at Rajouri Garden and was back to my car. While heading back I saw a ragpicker towards my left who seemed to be barefoot and was busy in displaying his bed on the footpath.
I kept moving as I was just five minutes away from my place. I reached home to pick a pair of shoes to donate him. I met him and Yes! I learned that this old man couldn’t sell the rags today and was about to sleep empty stomach. I donated a new pair of shoes to him along with some food stuff. After a couple of minutes before he could go for sound sleep, the man expressed his desire to have ‘frooti’ too which I offered him from a nearby shop.
Not only this, the old man took a pledge to stop intake of the drugs and promised to promote the campaign of “Say No to Drugs”.
It was a beautiful and peaceful weekend for me to donate all these stuffs to those who are less privileged but deserve the love and respect as much as we all do.The experience of joy that I had after meeting him was completely blissful. It is sad to see their condition, though at the same time it gives you a sense of contentment when you can contribute a bit from what you have been blessed with.
